Pre War
Helen was working as a packer for Mills & Wares, Perth prior to enlistment.
War Service
On 15 Sep 1943 Helen enlisted as a Aircraftwoman (Mess Stewardess) in the WAAAF at No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre in Perth. Helen was posted to No. 3 WAAAF Training Depot RAAF the same day where from 17 Nov until 15 Dec 1943 she undertook No. R.25 Recruit Drill Course before participating in the No. 1056 Stewards Course. Helen was remustered as a Stewardess on 31 Jan 1944.
On 15 Jan 1944 her posting changed to No. 4 School of Technical Training RAAF, and then on 27 Nov 1944 to No. 5 School of Technical Training RAAF where on 23 Feb 1945 she completed the No. 251 Cooks course after which she was remustered as a Cook. Helen was then posted to No. 1 RAAF Recruiting Centre in Melbourne.
Helen's posting changed on 8 May 1945 when she transferred to School of Administration RAAF at Victor Harbour in South Australia. On 18 Oct 1945 with the war over, Helen was posted back to the Western Australian based HQ Western Area RAAF. Remaining in the forces for a time, Helen was posted to RAAF Base Pearce on 27 Jun 1946. Her final posting was on 2 Aug 1946 to No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF wheere she was discharged on 28 Aug 1946
Post War
During 1946 Helen married Raymond T Allen in Fremantle.
