Brief History
No. 3 WAAAF Training Depot was formed at Karrinyup, Western Australia. The unit was responsible for ongoing recru1t training including drill, signals, clerical nnd mess steward training. The trainees were also given lectures in aircraft recognition.
In May 1943, as the war in the Pacilic progressed, members or the Voluntary Defence Corps (VDC) and Australian Mll1tary Forces (AMF) patrolled the grounds of the unit. The Depot was disbanded on 24 Mar 1945 after it had trained 1,417 airwomen.
