Pre War

On 29 Feb 1935 ALbert married Alice Pryor Thatcher in Armadale.

War Service

Albert enlisted in the RAAF on 24 Sep 1940 at the No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre, mustered as Trainee Mechanic. He was posted two days later to No. 4 School of Technical Training RAAF to undertake No. 22 Recruit Drill Course, and on completion of his course he was transferred on 17 Nov 1940 to No. 1 Engineering School RAAF at Ascot Vale in Victoria where he trained to be a Flight Mechanic via the No. 48 Trainee Flight Mechanic Course. Training complete for the moment, he was remustered as a Flight Mechanic Trade Group II on 15 Feb 1941 and then transferred on 21 Feb 1941 to No. 1 Aircraft Depot RAAF at Laverton. Albert was remustered again on 6 Jun 1941, this time as a Fitter / Driver Motor Transport TG I.
