Pre War

During WW1 Bill had served in the British Army from 7 May 1913 until 27 Mar 1919 with the 1/1 Surrey Regiment, later the 3rd London Field Ambulance and the Army Service Corps. War Service

Bill was mobilised with the 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment ww2 on 26 Sep 1940 and on 11 Jan 1941 he was posted to Bunbury. On 27 Jul 1942 he was transferred to the 2nd AIF and given a new Army Number WX29445. On 12 May 1944 Bill was entrained in Perth for New South Wales where on 12 Jul 1944 he joined the 1st Australian Base Depot - Personnel for reassignment. On 22 Jul 1944 Bill was posted to the 1st Australian Army Ordnance Corps Training Battalion in Victoria. From 18 September until 17 October 1944 Bill was detached to 3rd Australian Base Ordnance Depot'. On 27 Oct 1944 Bill was transfered to 3rd Australian Base Ordnance Depot, remaining with them until 8 Oct 1945 when he returned to take his discharge from Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot on 19 Oct 1945
