Pre War
Attended Armadale State School 1938, and Perth Boy's School 1939-40. he was a member f the Air Training Corp for 4 months before his enlistment.
War Service
Les enlisted in the RAAF as a Trainee Technician TG V on 20 Nov 1943 at the No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre in Subiaco. He was posted to the No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF in Busslton on 20 Nov 1943 to undergo Recruit Drill Course No. P 253. On 8 Jan 1944 he was transferred to No. 5 School of Technical Training RAAF in Mounts Bay road to be a member of No. 343 Trainee Fitter course. With the second stage of his training completed, on 18 Apr 1944 Les was posted to No. 3 School of Technical Training RAAF at Ultimo in Sydney where he participated in No. 54 Wireless Assistants course from 15 May to 15 Sep 1944. He then progressed on 24 Sep 1944 to No. 1 School of Technical Training RAAF in Carlton, Melbourne where he participated in the 22 week long No. 73B Wireless Maintenance Mechanics course from 6 Nov 1944 to 7 Apr 1945, and then No. 24 VHF course from 9 Apr until 5 May 1945.
On 16 Jun 1945 Les was transferred to No. 4 Personnel Depot RAAF in Adelaide, and then on 15 Jul 1945 to No. 2 Reserve Personnel Pool RAAF in Winnellie, Northern Territory. On 21 Jul 1945 he was allocated to No. 14 Aircraft Repair Depot RAAF in Gorrie, Northern Territory, where he remustered as a Wireless Assistant TG II on 16 Sep 1944 and again on 8 Apr 1945 to Wireless Maintenancd Technician TG I. He was promoted Leading Aircraftman on 5 Aug 1945. On 26 Aug 1945 his posting was changed to No. 12 Aircraft Repair Depot RAAF in Darwin. With the war over, he was transferred on 7 Mar 1946 to HQ North West Area RAAF in Darwin, and then on 23 Apr 1946 to the No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF's Discharge section toprepare for discharge on 26 Apr 1946
Post War
During 1949 Les married Emily Marion Dellamotte (1928 - 2008) locally. Emily died on 1 Sep 2008 in Safety Bay.
