Pre War

Electoral Roll entries: 1931 at West Dale, farmer; 1936 at Avon terrace Northam, labourer; 1937 at 63 Grant street, Claremont, truck driver; 1943 at 60 Chester street, South Fremantle, RAAF. At the time of his enlistment he gave his occupation as clerk storeman of the Hardware Department store not specified) and later as the Branch manager of a Freecorns Ltd grocery shop.

War Service

On 28 Apr 1941 Ken enlisted in the RAAF and was mustered as a Service Policeman. The same day he was sent to No. 1 Recruit Depot RAAF at Laverton where he participated in the No. 22 Recruit Drill Training Course until 17 Sep 1941, and then he completed the No 35 Service Police Course (29 Sep - 21 Nov 1941) at the No. 1 School of Technical Training RAAF During that time he spent 22 - 27 Oct 1941 in the No. 2 RAAF Hospital . Ken was promoted Acting Corporal on the completion of the course, (he reverted to Leading Aircraftman on 28 Feb 1942).


On 27 Nov 1941 he was posted to RAAF Base Point Cook and then on 14 Mar 1942 he was transferred to No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF in Perth. They in turn transferred him to the RAAF Service Police Unit (WA) on 7 Apr 1942 and he was then promoted Temporary Corporal on 12 Aug 1942. On 30 May 1942 Bill had married Mary Ethel Darnell in Fremantle. They had at least one child, Kerry Dawn (b.18 May 1945).On 26 Nov 1942 Ken was transferred to the No. 2 Airfield Construction Squadron RAAF at Pearce.


Ken embarked for Port Moresby, in New Guinea at Brisbane on 4 Jan 1943, and he disembarked in Port Moresby on 10 Jan 1943 to serve with the Service Police contingent until 19 Sep 1943 when he was posted to the No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF. He was granted a period of Leave Without Pay from 20 Feb 1945 until 20 May 1945. On 4 Feb 1946 he entered the unit's Discharge wing and was discharged on 7 Feb 1946.

Post War

Electoral Roll entries: 1949 - 1954 at 43 Carrington street, grocer, instructor from 1953; 1963 - 1968 at 30 Redwood crescent, Bicton, tutor. Mary died on 9 Aug 1982 n Bullcreek at the age of 76 years.
