109th Australian Convalescent Depot
From Our Contribution
General Information
Formed at Northam and moved to Naval Base in December 1941. Next move was to Narrogin in March 1942 where their establishment grew to 1,000 beds before moving back to Northam in March 1943 and reduced in size to 500 beds. Final move was to Point Walter in January 1945, with another downsize to 250 beds.
By the middle of 1944, most Army field units had left Western Australia, and the 109th Convalescent Depot moved from Northam to Point Walter Camp in January 1945. They established a 250 bed capacity and looked after soldiers who were on discharge from 110th Australian Base Hospital in Perth before returning to their original units.
