On 8 Jan 1944 he was transferred to [[No. 5 School of Technical Training RAAF]] in Mounts Bay road to be a member of No. 343 Trainee Fitter course. With the second stage of his training completed, on 18 Apr 1944 Les was posted to [[No. 3 School of Technical Training RAAF]] at Ultimo in Sydney where he participated in No. 54 Wireless Assistants course from 15 May to 15 Sep 1944. Post War

During 1949 Les married Emily Marion Dellamotte (1928 - 2008) locally. Emily died on 1 Sep 2008 in Safety Bay.
