On 3 Dec 1945 he was again admitted to the [[2/7th Australian General Hospital]] this time until 10 December when he was transferred to the [[113th Australian General Hospital]]. He remained with them until 29 Dec 1945 when he embarked on [[AHS2 Wanganella]] in Sydney for Melbourne where he disembarked on 31 Dec 1945 and was admitted to the [[115th Australian General Hospital]]. He was later sent to Western Australia, arriving on 7 Jan 1946 when Luke was admitted to the [[110th Australian Base Hospital]]. On 16 Jan 1929 Luke married Emily Ethel Turner (1908 - 1992) at Wickepin. Their children were Myrtle (Jean); June Lesley (1931 - 1996); Phillip Barry (1932-2007); William George (1934-1979); Mildred; Alex Clarence Stanley (Sandy) (1940 - 2008); and Robert James (1942 - 2011). War Service

Luke was mobilised on 2 May 1942 with Army Number W56369, and was called up for full time service on 12 May 1942. On 19 May 1942 Luke was transferred to the 5th Australian Garrison Battalion at Swanbourne. He was then transferred to the 10th Australian Reconnaissance Battalion at Wanneroo on 25 May 1942. On 8 Jul 1942 he transferred to the 2nd AIF with a new Army Number of WX26263. On 9 Jan 1943 he was detached while undertaking a Trade Test as a Farrier, returning to hsi unit on 15 Feb 1943 as a Trade Group 3 Farrier. In early December he was granted a weeks LWOP.
