Pre War
During WW1 Tom had enlisted in Townsville and he served with the 42nd and 15th Battalions in Egypt and France where he had been wounded in the arm (March 1917), the side (October 1917) and the Buttock (August 1918) and he was gassed in May 1918. By 1923 he had moved to WA as he married Bernice Bessie Nell Curran in that year in the Wellington district. Bernice died on 8 Jul 1969 aged 71.

War Service
Enlisted at Pickering Brook, and was a member of the 2nd Platoon, 'A' Company that was based in that area. On 31 Jul 1944 Tom and the rest of is unit were transferred to the Reserve, before being discharged on 15 Oct 1945.
