George's records are indistinct, much of it erased pencil. Mobilised on 2 Apr 1942, he entered HMAS Cerberus V rated as Stoker grade II. Following training he was posted to HMAS Medea based at Fremantle on 19 Jul 1942. On 2 Feb 1943 he qualified as a Stoker, and remained with HMAS Medea until at least 3 Jul 1944.
His service on HMAS Medea seems to have been principally based at either HMAS Melville in Darwin or HMAS Leeuwin in Fremantle. He was discharged at HMAS Leeuwin on 29 Aug 1945.
