Early Life

Alice was born on 26 May 1916.

Alice met her husband, Jack Mangini, on a cruise, during 1960's, when he was in his 70s and Alice was in her 50s. They were married for at least 25 years.

Community Involvement

Alice was active in the Society for Growing Native Plants, after her first trip with Jack across the Nullabor, and fell in love with Eremophilas (Desert Emu Bush). Alice was also a member of the Women's Guild and organised speakers from the Australian Board of Missions, and other Missionary organisations to speak to the Group. After Jack died, Alice demolished her house and had a prefabricated house placed in her garden. During this time, Alice lived with George and Wendy Beumer for 3 months until she could move into her new home. She read stories and told stories, found recipes as well as having conversations about Christian ideas and church life. Alice was an eccentric, wise and loving person with a very strong faith in Christ. Alice was also very involved with St. Mary's Church in Kelmscott W.A.
