Pre War

War Service

Mona enlisted in the WRAAF on 16 Aug 1944 at the No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre, mustered as a Stewardess. The same day she was posted to No. 3 WAAAF Training Depot RAAF to undertake training in the form of No. R39 Recruit Drill Course which concluded on 13 Sep 1944. She then undertook No. 158 Stewards Course from 13 - 28 Sep 1944.


Training completed, Mona was posted to the No. 4 Medical Rehabilitation Unit RAAF on 9 Oct 1944, and she remained with them until 7 Jan 1946. On 8 Jan 1946 Mona was transferred to No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF to prepare for discharge which occurred on 22 Jan 1946.

Post War

During 1946 Mona married Roy Warren Boulton (1924 - 2009) in Perth. Roy died on 21 Mar 2009, aged 84 in Northam. Roy was English born and had served in the RAAF as a Warrant Officer with 9 Aircrew Handling Unit. In peace time he was a clerk.

Notes

Other family members who served were: Brother Harry Alfred Curtis 2/32nd Battalion; Brother Clarence Albert Curtis RAAF; Brother Stanley Gordon Curtis 2/1st Independent Company KIA Rabaul 1942; and Kenneth Roy Curtis RAN. Her uncle Albert Cecil Clarence Curtis 10th Garrison Battalion, and his daughter Joyce Curtis AWAS also served.
