War Service

Brian enlisted in the CMF on 2 Jan 1945 before transferring to the 2nd AIF from 17 Jan 1945 and as a result he was sent to Kapooka in new SOuth Wales to join the 1st Australian Recruit Training Battalion on 10 Feb 1943. Following basic training he was transferred on 18 Apr 1945 to the 1st Australian Signals Training Battalion at Bonegilla. Initial signals training completed, he then attended an 'Aerial Lines Course 56' commencing 8 Jun 1945 at the Army Trades Training Depot. On 13 Sep 1945 Brian was admitted to the 57th Australian Camp Hospital for treatment before being releasewd back to his unit on 20 Sep 1945. On 16 Oct 1945 he had completed the Arial Line course and was posted back to the 1st Australian Signals Training Battalion

On 27 Feb 1946 Brian was posted to the BCOF Signals unit, allocated to the 11th Australian Mobile Carrier Section. He embarked in Sydney aboard HMT Duntroon on 12 Mar 1946 before disembarking at Kure in Japan on 9 Apr 1946. On 25 Jul 1946 Brian was transferred to the 1st Australian Cinema Unit, returning to the 11th Mobile Carrier Section from 30 Jul 1946 until 3 Sep 1946 when he was again transferred back to the 1st Australian Cinema Unit.

On 15 Mar 1947 Brian was admitted to the 130th Australian General Hospital with an infection, and was released back to his unit on 22 Mar 1947. On 10 Apr 1947 he was admitted to the 92nd Ind General Hospital for investigation , resulting in a diagnosis of Left Frontal Sinuvitis. He rejoined his unit on 20 Apr 1947. On 4 Oct 1947 Brian was promoted acting Corporal before embarking on HMAS Kanimbla on 4 Nov 1947 for Sydney where he disembarked on 18 Nov 1947. On 30 Nov 1947 he arrived back in Western Australia where he was discharged by Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot on 8 Dec 1947.

Post War

During 1953 Brian married Meryle Fay Taylor Wymond locally. Divorce soon followed as Meryle married Ernest Harry Richards in 1958. In 1961 Brian married again, this time to Margaret Ann Morley.
