1914 & 1915 Post Office Directory lists her sister: Mrs Elizabeth Rutherford T Scott, nurse, Armadale.

War Service

Enlisted in Sydney - a variety of dates in her records. Most likely embarkation was on 16 June 1915 from Melbourne on the HMAT A63 Karoola. She was initially used to nurse wounded on their return to Australia via HMAT A14 Euripides (Oct 1915) and HMAT A8 Argyllshire (Mar 1916).


Euphemia left Alexandria on 29 Mar 1916 for Marseilles in France aboard HMHS Salta, arriving on 5 Apr 1916, and disembarking the following day. She was taken on strength by the 1st Australian General Hospital (1AGH), but also was to spend some time detached to No 6 Stationary Hospital in Le Havre. Promoted to Sister on 3 Apr 1917 at 1st Australian General Hospital.


In Apr and May 1918 she spent a period in hospital in France, before being invalided to the UK on 18 Jun 1918 with severe Bronchitis. Euphemia returned to Australia with Pulmonary Tuberculosis and following treatment, her appointment was terminated on 13 Feb 1919 in the 2nd Military District (NSW).

Post War

Electoral Roll entries - in 1923 until 1927 or later, she was working at the Randwick Military Hospital; 1930-1937 Prince of Wales Hospital Randwick, NSW. The Commonwealth Super Board requested information concerning her war service on 31 Aug 1964.
