Pre War
War Service
On 27 Apr 1942 Robert enlisted in the CMF and was allocated to the Western Command Ordnance Workshops. On 27 Apr 1942 he was called up for full time service and was transferred to the Ordnance Depot. On 3 Sep 1942 Robert was transferred to the 9th Advanced Ordnance Depot. From 23 Sep 1942 until 12 Oct 1942 he was detached to Special Duty. On 1 Jan 1943 he was classified as a Driver Mechanic Trade Group 3, and form 1 Mar until 27 Mar 1943 he attended a Driver/Mechanics course. On 16 Apr 1943 Robert volunteered for overseas service and was transferred to the 2nd AIF.
On 25 Apr 1943 he was charged with having been AWOL from midnight 24 Apr 1943 until 7:45am on 25 Apr 1943. Fined £1 and forfeited a day's pay.
