Pre War
War Service
Entered camp on 9 Aug 1915 and was allocated to the 11th reinforcement draft for the 10th Light Horse Regiment.
His arrival in Egypt was not noted in his records with the first entry being his having been admitted to 4th Auxiliary Hospital Heliopolis, Egypt with mumps on 11 Jan 1916, and that he returned to duty with 10th Light Horse Regiment on 31st January 1916.
In Aug 1916 he spent two days in the care of the 3rd Light Horse Regiment Field Ambulance receiving treatment for a septic hand. He was again in hospital during Dec 1916 with appendicitis and in Jan 1917 due to tonsillitis. Both times in the care of 24th Stationary Hospital.
In Jerusalem on 27 Jun 1918 he was charged with being drunk and resisting arrest. Punished with 21 days Field Punishment and fined 21 days pay.
He went to hospital in Cairo with VD in late November 1918, having travelled via HMHS Assaye from Tripoli.
Served as a Driver from 9 Sep 1917 to 20 Nov 1918, when he reverted to Trooper, and served as a Driver again from 7 Mar 1919 till 29 Jun 1919.
Discharged 5th Military District 26 Sep 1919.
Casualty List 261 Frank is listed on it as being Ill.[1]
Post War
In 1922 he married Edith Margaret Hunt . Edith died 28 Oct 1970, aged 75 at Belmont.
MARTIN (nee Peggy Hunt).-On October 18, at Nurse Millen's, Kitchener-avenue, Victoria Park, to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Martin of Armadale - a daughter.[2]
MARTIN.-On November 8. to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Martin, of Pemberton - a son (Lewis).[3]
Electoral Roll entries - 1925 both in Pemberton, Francis a timber worker; 1936 - 1949 at 4 Leslie street, East Perth. Following Francis's death, in 1957 Edith is at 36 Toorak road, Rivervale, where she applied for a War Service home. 1958 - 1968 at 202 Keymer street, Belmont.
