Pre War
Frank Green was born in England on 26 January 1903, to parents William Binns Green and Annie Yates Green (nee Walker). The family arrived in Fremantle from London aboard SS Oroya on 26 Apr 1906. Travelling with three-year-old Frank and his mother were: Jane 16, Annie 15, Emily 14, Harry 11, Hilda 9, Fanny 9, Thomas 5, and Wilfred 10 months. Frank's father had arrived the year previous.
In 1931 Frank married Valma Doreen Ray in the local area. The couple had five children: John, Barbara, Frank, Janet and Michael. Their family home was built sometime between 1930 and 1932. The house was located at 36 Fourth Road, Armadale, corner Church Avenue, opposite the Armadale Primary School.
War Service
Frank was called up for full time duty on 18 March 1942 and was posted to the 7th Australian Army Troops Company at Ascot, where he was classified as a Trade Group II Carpenter after attending a classification course. On 20 Jul 1942 he was transferred to Area Essential Services and discharged the same day. It appears that he did not become a member of the Armadale based 'D' Company of the VDC's 2nd (Fremantle) Battalion.
Post War
Electoral Roll entries for 1954 - 1958 show Frank living at Fourth road, Armadale, employed as a labourer. He died aged 61 on 15 August 1964 and was buried in St Mary in the Valley cemetery, Kelmscott. Frank's wife Valma died 12 September 1997, aged 90, in Armadale.
