Notes
Valma Doreen Ray's early years were spent living with her parents and siblings in Beenup, and later in Armadale (nearby to the corner of Third Road and Eleventh Avenue). Valma's siblings included Hope Olive Ray (b.1895 in Jarrahdale, married Clarence Champion) and John George 'Jack' Ray (b.1897 in Jarrahdale). The family had moved to Mount Lawley by around 1918 but had been in Armadale for the early years of WW1.
