War Service
Arrived Gallipoli 1 Jul 1915 and was evacuated ill to Heliopolis with influenza on 21 Aug 1915. Returned to Gallipoli on 13 Nov 1915. In Egypt has attack of the mumps before transferring to the newly formed 4th Div Artillery on 1 Apr 1916, initially allocated to the 3rd Section of the 4th Division Artillery Column. Sailed from Alexandria on the 6th June 1916 for Marseilles on the SS Oriana.
In Nov 1917 Ronald was allocated to the 38th Battery of the 10th Field Artillery Brigade and on 11 Aug 1918 was one of 9 men in his unit wounded, with he and one other requiring a visit to the Field Ambulance. Rejoined the 10th FAB in France on 28 Sep 1918 before returning to England on 16 Jan 1919 for return to Australia. He landed at Albany on 7 Apr 1919 and was discharged by 5th Military District on 10 Jun 1919. Sister was Ada Marsh (Mrs GF Marsh)

In the 429th Casualty List, Ron is shown as Wounded (Tingerup).[1] His arrival home on the Anchises is announced in the Daily News on Thu 27 Mar 1919.
Post War
In 1927 he married Thomasina H King in Perth.
Electoral Roll entries include: 1931 a labourer in Waroona; 1936 a labourer at 18 Hubert street, Guildford with wife Thomasina; 1943 a teamster in Johnson rd, Mt Helena; 1949 by himself, as Thomasina had died in 1947; 1958 30 Spring Park road, Midland Junction.
