On 8 Nov 1928 Vesey married Edna Hilda Kemp (1912 - 1996). Daughters Zillah Phyllis Fitzgerald (1929–1966); Lynette Geraldine Fitzgerald (1938–2013).

War Service
Vesey enlisted in the 2nd AIF on 28 May 1941, and on 30 May he was posted to the Western Command Training Depot AASC at Claremont. He was transferred on 5 Sep 1941 to the Western Command Army Trades Training Depot where he attended at Perth Technical College the No 8 Course in Motor Transport Mechanics. On 19 Mar 1942 he was appointed Lance Corporal before being transferred on 24 Mar 1942 to the 108th Independent Brigade Workshop with his trade grouping as a Fitter TG1. On 26 Jun 1942 Vesey was promoted Acting Corporal, and on 21 Aug 1942 he was promoted again, this time as am Acting Sergeant.

On 10 May 1945 Vesey embarked withthe 134th Australian Brigade Workshops on USAT Sea Ray in Brisbane for NMorotai where he disembarked on 22 May 1945. On 21 Jun 1945 he embarked on USS LST 614 in Morotai for Labuan in British North Borneo. He was transferred on 28 Sep 1945 to 2/67th Light Aid Detachment and on 9 Oct 1945 he was promoted Acting Warrant Officer grade 2. This rank was confirmed a month later on 9 Nov 1945. He was transferred on 10 Dec 1945 to Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot for demobilisation. He embarked in Labuan aboard SS Pachaug Victory on 10 Dec 1945 and disembarked in Brisbane on 19 Dec 1945. He arrived back in Western Australia on 11 Jan 1946 and was discharged on 16 Jan 1946
