From 1 Jun 1942 until 24 Jul 1942 Frank participated in the No. 67 Trainee Group II Fitter couse run at [[No. 2 School of Technical Training RAAF]] at Kingston, a suburb of Canberra. From there, on 25 Jul 1942 he was transferred to [[No. 3 School of Technical Training RAAF]] at Ultimo in New South Wales where he was a member of No. 13 Fitter DMT course 30 Jul 1942 until 25 Sep 1942 after which he was remustered on 26 Sep 1942 as a Fitter/Driver Motor Transport. With the remustering he reverted to Aircraftmam. He was then posted on 1 Oct 1942 to [[No. 4 Embarkation Depot RAAF]] at Mileham in South Australia. While there Frank was briefly hospitalised from 10 to 12 Oct 1942 in the [[105th Australian Military Hospital]]. On 2 Dec 1942 Frank was briefly transferred to [[No. 55 Operational Base Unit RAAF]], before moving on to [[No. 3 Works Maintenance Unit RAAF]] and he was once again appointed as a Leading Aircraftman on 1 Jan 1943.

On 15 Jan 1943 Frank's unit was renamed to [[No. 3 Mobile Works Squadron RAAF]] on 15 Jan 1943, and on 15 Jul 1944  to [[No. 3 Airfield Construction Squadron RAAF]] He was promoted Temporary Corporal on 1 Dec 1944. Frank required sick leave from 8 Nov 1945 to 5 Dec 1945 during which time, on 1 Dec 1945 Frank married Dorothy Aldred Coyle in Victoria. He had been transferred to [[No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF]] on 7 Dec 1945, where he was discharged on 15 Apr 1946.

Frank enlisted on 28 Nov 1940, mustered as Messman and was sent the same day to undertake No. P62 Basic Dril course at No. 4 Recruiting Centre RAAF Pearce betwee 28 Nov 1940 and 3 Jan 1941. On 4 January he was posted to the RAAF Base Pearce headquarters unit. While with them, on 1 Jun 1941 he was appointed Leading Aircraftman. A year after joining them, on 29 Jan 1942 he was transferred to No. 14 Squadron RAAF.
