Five days later he was transferred to the 13th Australian Infantry Training Battalion at Northam camp. Following some basic training he was transferred to the Western Australian Line of Communication Area Training Depot AAMC at Northam. From 31 Aug 1942 until 25 Feb 1943 he was detached to 4 R A R. On 25 Feb 1943 he was transferred to the 118th Australian General Hospital at Northam where on 1 Jul 1943 he was granted Proficiency Pay.
