Pre War

On 8 Jan 1921, Alfred married Amelia Higgs (1897 - 1978) in Fremantle. They had three children: Jack Raymond Fuller (1922 - 2012); Joyce Enid fuller (1926 - 1928); and Colin Hansford Fuller (1927 - 1928). In March 1944 Amelia and the children were living in Hicks street Gosnells and in early 1945 they were at 43 Battle street, Mosman Park.

Electoral Roll entries: 1925 - 1931 at 23 Amherst street, Fremantle, horse driver; 1937 at 849 Albany road, storekeeper; 1943 P.O. Store, Roleystone, storekeeper.

War Service

Alfred was called up on 14 Jul 1941 and completed his enlistment at Claremont. Following training he was posted to the 5th Anti Aircraft Battery transferred to the 419th Gun Station on 22 Aug 1942. On 17 Nov 1942 he was admitted to the 110th Australian Base Hospital and ten days later on 27 Nov 1942 he was transferred to the care of 2/1st Australian General Hospital who released him to his unit on 23 Dec 1942. Alfred was transferred to the 29th Australian Heavy Anti Aircraft Battery's HQ unit on 25 Mar 1943 and on 1 Jul 1943 he was appointed a Lance Bombardier and qualified for Proficiency Pay the same day.
