NOK (brother) lived in Serpentine.
War Service
Entered Blackboy Hill camp on 19 Feb 1915, and was allocated to the 5th reinforcement draft for the 11th Battalion, travelling with them to Port Suez in Egypt.
Joined the 11th Battalion along with 130 others on 15 Jun 1915, and was allocated to A Company. On 30 Aug 1915 he reported to the 1st Field Ambulance with dysentery, and on 2 Sep 1915 he was sent on to the 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station who admitted him suffering with bronchitis.
On the next day he was evacuated to the 1st Australian Stationary Hospital on Lemnos, with lumbago. Transferred to England on HMHS Aquitania, he arrived there about 26 Sep 1915 where he was admitted to the 2nd Western General Hospital in Manchester on 27 Sep 1915. He arrived at the Command Depot in Weymouth on 24 Feb 1916
Returned to Australian for Home Service, and was discharged by the 5th Military District on 13 Jan 1917, medically unfit, 'at own expense'.
Post War
Also served during WW2 from 27 Jun 1940 until 5 Jan 1949 as W232700 Sergeant with RAE
