Prior to enlistment had passed 7th Standard at school. He could also play the Saxaphone and Banjolin.
War Service
George enlisted in the RAAF at the No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre on 18 Sep 1943, mustered as a Traine Technical. He was posted the same day to No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF at Pearce where he participated in Recruit Drill course P.244 before commencing a course at No. 5 School of Technical Training RAAF on 13 Nov 1943
No. 5 School of Technical Training RAAF 13 Nov 1943 to attend the No. 316 Trainee Fitter's course,
No. 1 Engineering School RAAF on 19 Feb 1944 to attend the No. 360 Trainee Flight Rigger's course rom 6 Mar until 27 May 1944
No. 4 Aircraft Depot RAAF on 13 Jun 1944
No. 4 Personnel Depot RAAF on 25 May 1945
remusterd 28 May 1944 as a Flight Rigger, and appointed Leading Aircraftman.
George was granted 67 days special leave without pay from 5 Nov 1944 until 10 Jan 1945
