Pre War

Prior to enlistment, Stan was working as a Works Clerk at the Byford State Brickworks. He had also been a Signaller in the VDC's Armadale Detachment.
War Service
Stan enlisted in the RAAF at the No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre in Perth on 6 Jul 1942 and was initially mustered as aircrew. He was sent the same day to No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF at Pearce to undertake a Recruit Drill course which finished at Busselton on 27 Jul 1942.
