Had studied to 8th Standard.
War Service
On 8 Mar 1944 Kathleen enlisted in the Australian Women's Army Service in Claremont, and on 13 March she was posted to 6th AWS Training Company. Training completed, on 10 Apr 1944 she was posted to the 4th Australian Motor Transport Training Depot to undertake a training course at Guildford. Training completed she was posted to 4th Australian Engineers Stores where she was classified as a Driver Mechanic TGII. On 14 Sep 1944 her posting changed to 10th Australian Base Stores Platoon RAE. On 5 Dec 1944 Kathleen Winifred (nee) Knapp married NX40027 Corporal Roy Frederick George Golby. Roy had served as a Corporal with the 2/6th Armoured Regiment from 28 Jul 1941 until 27 Nov 1945.
On 17 Sep 1945 Kathleen was admitted to 110th Australian Base Hospital for treatment for a abscess in the right breast and was discharged on 26 Sep 1945. On 31 Oct 1945 Kathleen was transferred to 31st AWAS Barrack in order to be discharged on 2 Nov 1945.
