War Service
On 23 Mar 1942 at Armadale, Joseph enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps and was allocated to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion. On 7 Jan 1943 Joseph was appointed Lance Corporal, and on 14 Aug 1944 he was discharged at his own request.
