Pre War
War Service
Henry enlisted in Claremont on 11 May 1943, and on 24 May he was posted to the 35th Australian Infantry Training Battalion. He was reported to have been AWOL from 11:59pm on 5 Dec 1943 until 6:40am on 13 Dec 1943. he was fined £5 ($10) and awarded 10 day's Confined to Barracks. He was AWOL again, this time from from 6:40am on 21 Feb 1944 until he was apprehended at 4:00pm on 8 Mar 1944. Under close arrest for 6 days before his case was heard on 14 Mar 1944, Henry was awarded 28 day's detention, fined £5, and suffered the loss of 23 days pay.
On 15 Mar 1944 Henry entered the 11th Australian Detention Barracks and was released on 10 Apr 1944. AWOL again from 8:00am on 12 Apr 1944, he was apprehended at 9:15am on 19 Apr 1944. Henry was awarded a further 28 day's detention, and forfeited 8 day's pay. His sentence was revised on 11 May 1944 with 5 days being remitted. He was released on 11 May 1944, but was again AWOL from 8:30am the following day until apprehended on 30 May 1944. On 2 Jun 1944 Henry was admitted to the 75th Australian Camp Hospital with Cystitis, but was released on 7 June to face a District Court Martial on 8 Jun 1944 where he was charged with having been AWOL from 8:30am on 12 May 1944 until apprehended by Military Police on 30 May 1944 at 3:45pm. Found Guilty he was sentenced to 120 days detention and the loss of 147 day's pay (AWOL 19 days, Close Arrst period 8 days and detention 120 days).
On 13 Jun 1944 Henry was admitted to the 110th Australian Base Hospital with Cystitis. On 22 Aug 1944 his sentence was suspended as he had escaped custody from 110th Australian Base Hospital. He was Declared an Illegal Absentee the same day, and remaind so until apprehended on 17 Noc 1944 when he was handed over to the Civil Police CIB who charged him with 1 charge of 'breaking and entering' and 7 charges of 'stealing'. Henry was discharged on 8 Dec 1944 as he had been sentenced to imprisonment (21 months) by a Civil Court, and this was deemed to be discredible Service.
Post War
Henry married Roma Mary Hopkins during 1950.
