Pre War
War Service
On 12 May 1943 Marie enlisted in the Australian Women's Army Service at Perth and on 15 May 1943 she was transferred to the 6th AWS Training Company to complete her initial training. On 16 May 1943 she was classified as a Trade Group III Clerk, and on 7 Jun 1943 was posted to DFO (Accounts ?) where on 26 Aug 1943 she was reclassified as a TG II Clerk.
On 12 May 1944 as she had completed 12 months service she received Adult pay, and on 29 Sep 1945 Marie was promoted Corporal. She was admitted to 110th Australian Base Hospital on 22 May 1946 with measles. She was released on 12 Jun 1946 and sent to Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot to be discharged, but on 17 Jun 1946 she was transferred to Victoria to take her discharge there. Marie was discharged on 26 Jun 1946 in Victoria as she had married 45599 Sergeant Edward George Hatton RAAF (1919 - 1997) on 9 Dec 1944. George as he was known served in the Western Area Headquarters from 14 Aug 1941 until 15 May 1946.
