Transcription Fancote. Charles beloved husband of Caroline Fancote died 24th October 1899 aged 72 years. Also Caroline dearly beloved wife of the above who departed this life 13th Sept 1915 aged 66 years. Also Sarah Alice beloved daughter of the above died 20th Nov 1900 aged 13 years. And Thomas beloved son of above died 1st April 1903 aged 29 years. "God takes the loved ones from our homes but never from our hearts".



Early Life

Charles Fancote was born in Smethwick, Staffordshire on 28 January 1828. To parents Richard & Eleanor Fancoat (Williams) He had three brothers and one sister, Charles was the second son. He first marriage to Jane Williams (1827-1899) in 1850 in Smethwick. they had one son Thomas Fancoat. The name was change after Charles arrive in Western Australia.

Marriage

Charles married Caroline Fancote (nee Buckingham) 4 July 1871 at Canning School Room, Kelmscott. They had ten children; Henry,Thomas, Charles, Alexander, Mary Ellen, Anna Maria, Lucy Jane, Caroline (Carrie), Sarah Alice, Frederick.

Immigration

Charles arrived on board the ship "Ramillies" as a convict on 10 August 1854. His Convict No. was 3104. Charles was given his ticket-of-leave on 31 May 1858 and a conditional pardon on 2 June 1862.

Electoral Rolls

According to the electoral roll in 1861 Charles purchased sixteen acres of land in Kelmscott, bounded by the Canning River and the then Albany Road. Much of this land now forms the central business area of Kelmscott.

Death

Charles died at the age of 70 years on 24 October 1899 at Kelmscott.
