War Service

George's records are indistinct, much of it erased pencil. Mobilised on 2 Apr 1942, he entered HMAS Cerberus V rated as Stoker grade II. Following training he was posted to HMAS Medea based at Fremantle on 19 Jul 1942. On 2 Feb 1943 he qualified as a Stoker, and remained with HMAS Medea until at least 30 Jun 1943.


His service seems to have been principally with ships based on either HMAS Melville in Darwin or HMAS Leeuwin in Fremantle until his discharge on 29 Aug 1945.
