War Service

Enlisted part time in the CMF at Armadale on 16 Jul 1942, and was called up for full time duty on 28 Jul 1942. He was posted to Genral Reinforcments until 5 Aug 1942 when he was posted tothe 13 Australian Infantry Training Battalion at Northam. On 1 Sep 1942 he was transferred to the 109th Australian Anti-Aircraft Battery who detached him on 29 Sep 1942 to the 419th Anti-Aircraft Station. He was discharged from the AMF on 12 Apr 1943 to enlist in the 2nd AIF on the following Day with his new number WX38400. On 29 May 1943 he was transferred to the 455th Bakers Station, and then on 23 Jul 1943 to the 25th Australian Anti-Aircraft Battery.

Stan transferred to the 804th Australian Heavy Anti-Aircraft & Coastal Artillery Battery]] on 2 Sep 1944 before transfering again on 4 Oct 1944 to the 1st Australian Base Depot Personnel. On 24 Dec 1944 they transferred Stan to the 28th Australian Infantry Training Battalion. Following traing wioth them he was sent to the Australian Reinforcement Training Battalion (Jungle Warfare) at Cunungra to prepare for service overseas. with the comp[letion of his training he was embarked aboard SS Both in Brisbane for Morotai where he disembarked on 25 Jun 1945. On arrival in Morotai he was placed in the 1st Australian Advanced Reinforcement Depot before being allocated to the 63rd AUstralian Infantry Battalion on 25 Aug 1945. 

On 3 Oct 1945 Stan embarked on HMAS Westralia at Morotai for Ambon and service with "Amforce", disembarking there on 5 Oct 1945. There on 14 Dec 1945 he was admitted to the 10th Australian Field Ambulance for treatment, returning to his unit on 18 Dec 1945. On 21 Jan 1946 he was posted back to Morotai and embarked aboard USAT Winchester Victory for Morotai, disembarking there on 23 Jan 1946. On 31 Jan 1946 he joined the 23rd Platoon, F Company of the 2/1st Guard Regiment Then providing a guard on the Japaneses POWs. On 23 Mar 1946 Stan was charged with Disobeying a lawful command given by his Suoeruir Officer for whcih he was fined £1.

On 24 Apr 1946 Stan embarked in Morotai on HMAS Duntroon for Rabaul, disembarking there on 2 May 1946, and on 6 May he was posted to the 31/51st Australian Infantry Battalion. However, his stay was bried as on 8 Jun 1946 he was transferred to Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot for discharge which took place on 28 Jun 1946.
