Pre War
Dougal departed the UK on 6 Sep 1923 aged 22 aboard SS Barrabool. On 5 Dec 1925 he married Annie Allen Balfour (1902 - 1968). They had a daughter Annie Miller Sleith (1927 - 2015).
Electoral Roll entries: 1925 at Upper Blackwood, farm assistant; 1931 - 1937 at Byford, brickmaker
War Service
Dougal was mobilised on 29 Oct 1942 and posted to HMAS Leeuwin. Sadly his records do not mention what role he had in the service. He appears to have been based at HMAS Leeuwin for most of his service life, with short stints aboard HMAS Geraldton.
Post War
Annie died in Byford on 19 Aug 1968, aged 66
Electoral Roll entries: 1943 - 1972 at Byford, brickmaker; 1977 - 1980 at 1/551 William street, Mt Lawley
Notes
Dougal made application for a war pension in 1953, but it was rejected.
