War Service
Philip enlisted in the RAAF as a Steward TG V at the No. 4 RAAF Recreuiting Centre on 29 Sep 1944, and was initially held against No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF until 6 Oct 1944 when he was transferred to the No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF to undertake the No. 288 Recruit Drill course. On 11 Nov 1944 he was posted to RAAF Base Pearce remaining with them until 8 Mar 1946 when he was posted to No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF to process his discharge which took place on 15 Mar 1946. While at Pearce he was promoted Leading Aircraftman on 29 Mar 1945 and Acting Corporal on 1 Dec 1945.
Post War
On 20 May 1950 Phillip married Margaret Caroline Stephen (1927 - 2022) in the Gosnells Methodist Church. Margaret, a Gosnells girl had also served in the RAAF between 18 Jul 1945 and 30 Aug 1946. They had four daughters. Margaret died on 5 Feb 2022 in Northam aged 94.
