War Service
Jack was enlisteed in the CMF on 16 Jan 1942 when he was posted to the 9th Auxiliary Horse Transport Company. He was called up for full time service on 12 Feb 1942, remaining with that unit until 9 Sep 1943 when he transferred tothe 124th AUstralian General Transport Company. In the meantime he had enlisted in the 2nd Aif on 9 Oct 1942. On 31 Oc t1943 Jack was posted to the AASC Pool, and then on 15 Dec 1943 Jack embarked on SS Marella for Victoria, disembarking in Port Melbourne on 26 Dec 1943.
On 3 Jan 1944 Jack was posted to the 3rd Battalion at the RAE Training Centre at Wagga Wagga. Followiong training he was posted to the 2/3rd Docks Operating Company on 17 Mar 1944 and they left for the Northern Territory, arriving there on 24 Mar 1944.
9 Oct 1942 enlisted in the 2nd AIF.

On 22 Jan 1946 Jack was transferred to the Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot where he was discharged on 13 Mar 1946.
Post War
Electoral Roll entries: 1949 - 1972 Third avenue, Kelmscott, labourer; 1980 Talwin court, Kelmscott, retired. On 10 Dec 1956 Jack secured a Goods Porter position at the Perth Goods Depot. On 29 Aug 1963 he was transferred to the Kewdale depot, and from 25 Oct 1970 until he resigned on 28 Mar 1973, Jack reduced his hours of work to 25 hours per week as a part time goods porter position at the Kewdale depot with the WAGR. His wife Emma died on 10 May 1957.
