War Service

Luke was mobilised on 2 May 1942 with Army Number W56369, and was called up for full time service on 12 May 1942. On 19 May 1942 Luke was transferred to the

2nd AIF 8 Jul 1942

On 16 Apr 1945 Luke embarked on SS Ormiston in Sydney for New Guinea, disembarking at Lae on 24 Apr 1945. On 13 Jun 1945 he was admitted to the 2/7th Australian General Hospital with a strained right Lumbar Vertebrae, returning to his unit on 25 Jun 1945. On 3 Dec 1945 he was again admitted to the 2/7th Australian General Hospital this time until 10 December when he was transferred to the 113th Australian General Hospital. He remained withthem until 29 Dec 1945 when he was sent to Western Australia. On 7 Jan 1946 Luke was admitted to the 110th Australian Base Hospital. On 18 Jul 1946 Luke was Medically reassessed as 'D', and on 29 Jul 1946 he was released from hospital to the Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot for discharge proceedigns. Luke was discharged on 2 Aug 1946
