During 1939 John had married May L D Thurkle at Busselton.

Electoral Roll entries: 1937 at 'Glen View', Vasse, farmer.

War Service

At his original mobilisation interview on 28 Jan 1942, he was granted a deferment, but later enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps at Manjimup on 25 Apr 1942.

John's file at Australian Archives contains only two sets of enlistment documents and the original Medical questionaire.

Post War

Notes

His wife's name varies on the two enlistment forms on file. One names her as Dorothy May, and the other as May Love Dorothy. Similarly his religion in January 1942 is Roman Cathoilic, while in April it is Church of England
