Pre War

War Service

Jack was called up for full time service on 17 Dec 1941, medically classified as B2 (a short leg prohibited marching). His records make no mention of early basic training with the only entries being for the 5th Military District Accounts Office. On 30 Mar 1942 Jack was promoted Corporal, and then on 14 Jul 1943 to Acting Sergeant and then to Sergeant on 14 Oct 1943. On 27 Mar 1944 Jack was promoted Acting Staff Sergeant, with confirmation of that rank occurring on 14 Jul 1944. On 15 Nov 1945 Jack was transferred to Western Command Depot Cash Office until 19 Feb 1946 when he returned to the District Accounts Office. On 27 Feb 1946 he was transferred to Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot for discharge which took place on 28 Feb 1946.

Post War

Jack married Beryl Evelyn Tait (1924 - 24 Oct 2008) in 1946.
