Western Command Depot Cash Office

Brief History

While I can find no mention of Western Command Depot Cash office, it is most likely that it was a new name for what began life as the 3rd Australian Corps Field Cash Office which was formed as a separate unit at Mt Lawley in October 1942 from 3rd Australian Corps Command Pay Office. In December 1943 they moved to Swan Barracks and when Headquarters Western Command was formed in mid-1944 the unit was restructured as 101st Australian Depot Cash Office in October 1944 and it continued to service the Western Command headquarters until the end of the war.
