Pre War
War Service
On 6 Mar 1942 Bill was called up in Perth, but was not required full time until 21 Aug 1941 when he was posted to the 109th Australian Convalescent Depot. On 13 Feb 1943 he was charged with 'Breaking out of Camp' for which he received a Severe Reprimand. On 21 Jun 1943 he was admitted to the 38th Camp Hospital before being discharged on 25 Jun 1943. On 30 Sep 1943 he was injured while on duty, an investigation finding no negligence.
On 28 Dec 1943 he was granted Leave without pay until 25 Jan 1944, later extended to 8 Feb 1944 before returning to the 109th Australian Convalescent Depot. From 25 June until 27 Jun 1944 he was being cared for by the 2/14th Field Ambulance after which he was reclassified medically as unfit for driving, and hence sent to
Discharged 4 Oct 1944.
Post War
Bill married Elsie May Martin (1918- 1993) in 1945 and they had two daughters and a son. Electoral Roll entries: 1972 - 198 at 112 River road, Kelmscott, MWS employee. Bill was recognised for his contribution to the Kelmscott Agricultural Society in 1983 by being listed as a "Life Member".
