Pre War
Pri to enlisting, Bill had married Margaret Ann on 11 Sep 1930 and they had three children, a (son Ronald William Ray), born 19 Feb 1931; and a daughter (Marrion Ann) born 27 Jul 1932. Another daughter (Marjoie) was born on 24 May 1944.
War Service
Bill enlisted in the RAAF at No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre on 1 Aug 1942, mustered as a Guard. The same day he was sent to No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF at Pearce to undertake No. P175 Recruit Drill Course from 2 Aug to 23 Aug 1942.
Bill was posted to No. 2 Mobile Works Squadron RAAF on 22 Sep 1942, wher on 8 Dec 1942 he was re-mustered as a Butcher. As a result he was then on 21 Dec 1942 posted to RAAF Base Pearce where he remained until his final posting on 4 Dec 1945 was to the No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF where he was discharged on 9 Dec 1944 to return to his civil occupation.
