Pre War
Completed 6th Standard schooling.
War Service
Enlisted on 18 Mar 1943 in the Australian Women's Army Service and on 21 March she was sent to the 6th AWS Training Company in Claremont. On 12 Apr 1943 with training completed and with status as Trade Group IV Orderly, she was posted to the 7th Australian Advanced Ordnance Depot. On 27 Oct 1943 Joyce was evacuated to the 1st Australian Women's Hospital, remaining in their care until 1 Nov 1943. On 18 Mar 1944 having completed 12 months service, Joyce received a pay increase.
On 8 Oct 1944 Joyce was charged with having been AWOL from 1:30am until 11:00am the same day. Her punishment was much more severe than a male soldier would have received - Fined £2 ($4), loss of a day's pay and 14 days Confined to Barracks. Transferred to the 23rd Australian Line of Communication Salvage Section on 7 Feb 1945 she was again hospitalised, this time in the 110th Australian Base Hospital from 25 Mar until 23 Apr 1946. On 30 Apr 1946 Joyce was transferred to 31st AWAS Barrack for discharge which occurred on 2 May 1946.
Post War
During 1947 Joyce married John Stanley Hudson. John died on 1 Sep 2003 in Gosnells, aged 80.
