Pre War

Electoral Roll entries: 1936 at Woodley street, Wiluna, carpenter.

Prior to enlisting Reg had worked as a Cabinet Maker / Joiner for 12 years having completed an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker.

War Service

On 30 Apr 1940 he was enlisted as a Carpenter/Rigger, having passed a trade test in February, and was posted same day to No. 1 Recruiting Depot at Laverton, arriving there on 30 Apr 1940. On 26 May 1940 he moved on to No. 1 Engineering School RAAF at Ascot Vale and then on 13 Sep 1940 to No. 1 Aircraft Depot RAAF at Laverton where on 1 Dec 1940 he was appointed as a Leading Aircraftman. On 14 Mar 1941 he was posted to No. 4 Services Flying Training School RAAF at Geraldton where on 1 Sep 1941 he was promoted Temporary Corporal. His next move was to No. 9 Elementary Flying Training School RAAF at Cunderdin on 20 May 1942 where on 1 Sep 1942 he was given higher duties as an Acting Sergeant. on 1 Dec 1943 this was made Temporary Sergeant.

On 17 Jan 1945 Reg was posted to No. 4 Aircraft Depot RAAF, and on 14 Jun 1945 to the No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF in Perth to prepare for discharge. On 17 Jun 1945 Reg was placed on the Reserve List, and formally discharged on 30 Oct 1946.


On 29 Mar 1941 Reg married Vera Joan Bennett (1917 - 2004). They had three children, with the oldest Graeme Reginald being born 3 Jun 1943.
