On 14 Jun 1945, following training, Tom was posted to the [[1st Australian Port Maintenace Company]] and on 28 Jul 1945 he married Lola Isobel of 20 Roberts street, Wallsent, Newcastle, NSW. On 10 Sep 1945 he was accidentally injured, and so on 19 Oct 1945 he was transferred to [[Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot]] to prepare for discharge, arriving in WA on 5 Nov 1945, and his discharge being effective on 9 Nov 1945.
