Pre Army service Gwen had a member of the civilian VADs at Claremont
War Service
Gwen had been mobilised on 6 Mar 1943 and called up for full time service on 18 Mar 1943. On 21 Mar 1943 was detaqched tothe AWAS No 6 Training Barracks to undertake basic training. On 12 Apr 1943 she was posted to 38th Australian Camp Hospital at Northam. On 3 Aug 1943 Gwen was enlisted in the 2nd AIF, with a new number (WFX40292).

John and Gwen had two daughters, one being Lorraine Margaret (1949-2015)
Electoral Roll entries: 1949 - 1980 at 17 Boreham street, Cottesloe, (John a carpenter). John died on 15 Aug 2007 in Mosman Park.
