In 1928 John married Jocelyn AEstcourt (Anne) Smith (1903 - 1945). They had five children, Louise Jocelyn (1929-2016); Allan Charles John (1930 - 2013); Raymond Newell (1932 - 2013); Margaret Rosemary Ann (1936 - 1947) and Suzanne Leslie.
War Service
John enlisted at the No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF on 14 Apr 1942 and mustered as a Guard. Following the basic drill training John was posted on 3 May 1942 to RAAF Base Pearce. Soon after, on 27 May 1942 he was transferred to No. 4 Embarkation Depot RAAF in South Australia, and three months later on 28 Aug 1942 his posting changed to No. 4 Service Flying Training School RAAF at Geraldton. On 14 Oct 1942 John was promoted to Leading Aircraftsman, and was granted Special Leave from 7 Dec 1942 until 4 Nar 1943.
