War Service
Joseph originally enlisted in the CMF on 4 Feb 1942, was called up for full time duty on the same date. Prior to this, Joseph had been a member of the 19th Australian Garrison Battalion and was posted to the 3rd Australian Corps Troops Supply Column on 24 Aug 1942 as a Trade Group II Cook. He then enlisted in the 2nd AIF on 12 Sep 1942. On 21 Dec 1942 Joseph was charged with having been AWOL from 9:00pm 16 Dec 1942 until 6:15am 21 Dec 1942. He was Admonished and automatically forfeited five days pay. On 15 Apr 1943 Joseph was transferred to the 37th Australian Company AASC, remaining withthem until 4 Jan 1944 when Joseph was granted Leave Without Pay form 3:00pm on 4 Jan 1944 until 3:00pm on 1 Feb 1944.
