Brief History
The chemical warfare group of units was restructured during September 1942, including a 2/1st Australian Mobile AntiGas Laboratory. This unit formed at Broadmeadows in Victoria before participating oin calibration trials in Townsville, Singleton and Grafton in early 1943. The unit was renamed 2/1st Australian Chemical Warfare Laboratory in February 1943, and in October moved to Ashgrove in southern Queensland, with a mobile section based in Toowoomba. The mobile section operated at Port Moresby between March and August 1944 and at Lae from January 1945.
